HAS THE OLD TESTAMENT
BEEN "DE-CANONIZED"?

Why on earth would anyone in their right mind be a Christian?  This is a question that is often ignored.

There really is only one good answer to this question.  Why would anyone in their right mind believe something that is not true?

Now, I've done the unforgivable and answered a question with a question.  But it highlights the real issue: What is truth?

More importantly, perhaps, what is the standard that is used to determine what is truth?

Now the simple response from a Christian perspective is that truth is determined by God, and He has revealed Himself in the documents handed down through the ages now called the Bible.

If that is true, however, why is there such disagreement among Christians about what the Bible teaches?  There are Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant views of what the Bible teaches.  Within Protestantism, there are Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, Seventh Day Adventist and many others who defend their distinctive views from the Bible.  There are "fringe" groups within Christianity, such as the Jehovah Witnesses, who argue they hold the real keys to understanding what the Bible teaches.

This web site is for the purpose of establishing the biblical landmarks to theological debate.  It is our contention that if God's revelation is through the Scriptures, then it is important for us to begin with the first Scriptures handed down from above and understand how God's continuing revelation unfolds His Word to the world at large.

It is our belief that the Scriptures do hold the keys to understanding what God has revealed to us, and that a proper application of this principle will remove many of the obstacles to understanding His word to the modern world.  We think it will remove many of the uncertainties and confusing ideas that exist today over what the Bible really teaches.

Look at what has happened.  Christianity created Europe.  It is -- or at least was -- religion that defined this geographic area.  It was Christianity that forged Western civilization, even though it may have had many faults.  Christianity created Christendom.  But what happened to both Christianity and Christendom?

It is our belief that contemporary culture, now no longer Christian in its ambition, can only be changed by a comprehensive application of the Bible and what it teaches.  In order to do this, it will be necessary to stop the rather curious arguments that somehow take away the authority of certain parts of the Bible.  When Christianity created its canon -- it's rule of law -- some interpretations were already in existence that de-canonized other parts of the Bible.  Those teachings have continued, and in some areas have become part of the accepted view of Christianity.

It is our belief that this approach to the Bible ultimately destroys the whole Bible and what it teaches.  It leaves some ideas with no biblical authority but that which an interpreter makes up for himself.    It is time those assumptions were challenged -- from the Bible itself.

In this context, biblicallandmarks.com is devoted to restoring a whole-Bible approach to theology and understanding what God wants us to know.  Our goal is to help restore the biblical landmarks to theology, to our understanding of what it is that God wants us to know and do.

This is a web site that is not interested in arguing Calvinism, Arminianism, Pentecostal, or Charismatic views.  It is a place, however, where the biblical assumptions in these views can be explored, and how they influence a particular viewpoint.
